Why did we hike the Auburn Trail this week by way of Victor? We wished to refresh our steps on this path that shall be a subject of dialogue Wednesday: Plans are afoot to complete up an Auburn Trail hyperlink to Ontario Pathways in Canandaigua.
The city of Canandaigua is on the lookout for public feedback on proposals that project consultants will talk about throughout a webinar at 6 p.m. Nov. 3. Even Rosie’s ears perked up about this (although I think about she shall be taking her post-dinner nap then).
The Auburn Trail and Ontario Pathways are two of Rosie’s favourite haunts. Around Halloween 2020, she mimicked some spectacular pumpkin faces alongside the Ontario Pathways path. This Halloween, she howled her manner alongside a piece of the Auburn Trail in Victor.
The Auburn Trail system covers greater than 13 miles from Brighton to the town of Canandaigua. Built on the mattress of the Auburn and Rochester Railroad, the path takes you alongside a scenic byway that was a bustling transportation route through the nice railroad period.
Known then because the Auburn Road, it was first used in 1841 and later turned a part of the New York Central. The part west of the Victor village closed in 1960; the part east of the village operated till 1978.
Victor’s Auburn Trail connects seamlessly by way of the Auburn Trail in Farmington. Since spring 2019, the Farmington Auburn Trail has continued by way of Farmington to the Canandaigua city line and Route 332. Canandaigua has been engaged on plans to proceed the path to the town and hyperlink to the Ontario Pathways.
